The Bible Teaches Tough Love
My parents used to reprimand me when I would do something wrong when I was still young. Just like what some Bible verses about love say, God does the same for His children. When someone loves another, they will do everything just to prevent him from going astray. Imperfect as we are, we are prone to committing mistakes – small or horrible. What shall we do then when we are rebuked for our shortcomings? The Scripture tells us to repent – always. Correction should not be a reason for us to stop our zeal. Similar to what a potter does to his pots and clay, God can choose to mold us into perfection or even break us if ever needed. But of course, this doesn’t directly mean that He doesn’t understand us (you know He always does). Sometimes we just have to suffer the consequences of our actions to remind us to at least avoid making the same mistake we did before.
